True Love

But the greatest love - the love above all loves,
Even greater than that of a mother...
Is the tender, passionate, undying love,
Of one beer drunken slob for another.
~Irish Ballad

Happy St. Paddy's day y'all!

Woohoo for me!

So, I left work last night and ran by Curves to do my workout since I hadn't been there in awhile, being stuck at home with a sick lil girl for the last 3 days. I had a good workout and felt great as I was leaving there, so on the way home I decided to try and go for a short run as well. My 10k training group is going to start soon and I'm not prepared at all! So, I decided to start out with just a 1/2 mile last night... I ran along and when I got to the turning point, I was still feeling pretty good - so decided to go on for the mile instead. Not only did I finish the mile, running the whole way - but I also finished it in my fastest time EVER! WOW! woohoo for me. That was very exciting for me, especially since I haven't ran since before Thanksgiving. I'm hoping to do the same thing tonight, hit curves and then go for a run and do another mile. We'll see how that goes.

Anyway, just wanted to brag on me a bit there - hope y'all are doing great, I've got to get some more work done before I leave. TGIF! Have a great weekend! ;)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my girl Trick! ;) She's growing up so fast... [choking back the fake tears]. Anyway she turns 30-something today and I want to wish her a very happy bday! She's having some back issues today, so I hope she can at least get up and enjoy it somewhat - doesn't that suck?

Anyway, today is Friday and that makes me very happy - I look forward to the weekend SOOO much. what a relief. I'm thinking about running a 5k tomorrow, this will be another one where I don't actually run the entire course, but I'd like to do it anyway. It gets me pumped up to keep running and makes it easier. I have found that I really do enjoy running, I feel better both physically and emotionally after running - so why not?

Anyway, gotta run into a meeting - so talk to you later! bye!

Hi there - remember me?

Yep, it's your kelwhy - back safe and sound. No, i really didn't go anywhere, i just kinda got lost at work for a bit. But, i'm back and i promise to stay in touch now. at least i'll try... ok - quick recap?
  • I ran another 5k this weekend - well - walked/ran it. Annette and I finished it in 41:48, not too shabby all things considered. We hadn't run in about 2 weeks before the race, and so - I think we did good - we at least finished. This was her first 5k ever. We're getting ready for the next 5k in November now! ;) Our goal will be to run that entire race, no walking! we'll see.

mile 1 - 12:30
mile 2 - 13:54
mile 3 - 14:14
mile .1 - 1:08

Total - 41:48

  • We had my company picnic to go to on Saturday afternoon then, that was a good time - the kids had lots of fun and it was a beautiful day to have it.
  • I slept wrong or something Saturday night and woke up with a damn crick in my neck on Sunday morning - hurts like a son of a bitch - hate it. I've been trying to work it out, but I can't. :( Hopefully, it'll go away soon. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well, that's all that I can catch you up on right now. I'll try to keep updated now and stay with it. Hope all is going well for you - i've missed you terribly! Talk to you later...

Back on track...

Well, I went running 2 miles last night and then my friend and I got up EARLY this morning and we did 2 more miles this morning. We decided that we were going to start running every Mon, Wed, and Fri morning at 5:30 am. Yep - that's DAMN early. But, I feel good that we did it and actually completed it. It's easier when you have someone to go with you, especially that early in the morning - that way you are obligated to get up and go! hahh! The kids are interested in a little 1 mile fun run that takes place tomorrow evening, so I told them that we would try to run 1 mile tonight and see how they do before they attempt it tomorrow. So, I'll be running again tonight and if I'm guessing right - I'll be running that 1 mile with each of them tomorrow evening too - really getting my workout in! damn. oh well, we'll see - it's good for me, that's for sure. okie dokie - i gotta run, it's insane, crazy, crazy insane. Hope y'all have a great day and i'll talk to you later. love you bye! ;)

It was 1989, my thoughts were short, my hair was long...

Happy Wednesday to you! Howz it going so far? It's just grand here. sure. Another busy day, but that does help the day to fly by, so it's not all bad! ;) I managed to get out and go running last night. I made lil man run with me - he didn't like it and cried and whined most of the way. We only did 1 mile - you'd have thought I was torturing him in the cruelest way possible the way he carried on! It's ok, he needs to get out and do it with me - he's starting to get a little bit of a tummy lately - gotta run that off! I told him and lil girl both that they have to run with me at least twice a week, once they had to run and once they could ride their bikes or scooters. Neither of them like this deal very much, we'll see how it goes. I would really love for them to run the next 5k with me. I know they could do it easier than me if they just practice a little bit with me, and besides that - having them run with me, makes it easier for me to run! Gives me a bit of motivation sometimes when I am looking for any excuse not to run that evening!

So, what else? I have been in touch with some of the old Chi-Chi's gang from years ago and we are going to try to have a little chi-chi's reunion when FuddyDuddy and I go back to Canton for Turkey day. This should be a blast, I'm really looking forward to it. I worked at Chi-Chi's in North Canton (on dressler) from October of 1991 through September of 1996 (there was a bit of off and on there, but mostly all on). I met my FuddyDuddy there, and we both had so many good friends from there. I've just never worked anywhere else like that - we all were friends there. Everyone hung out together, partied together, whatever... it was crazy, and fun, and I have a lot of great memories from the place. I'm getting excited about seeing everyone again!

A Boy named Sue...

That's the song that's playing right now... I just have my iTunes on random and with the music that I have on there, you really never know what might pop up next. That's just how I roll.

So, anyway, what's up? Anything exciting going on lately? No? Yeah - not so much here either. I was just talking to hubby about Thanksgiving and Christmas, trying to plan out our "ohio time". The last several times up there I haven't had a chance to get with Trish, or any of my friends - I'm hoping to fix that this time. We shall see. It's already busy time up there between both of our families, so we'll have to work out what we can. Keep your fingers crossed for me - cuz it's a pretty stressful time. Any of you that have to travel over the holidays, and then on top of that split your time between 2 families know exactly what I'm talking about!

Now playing: Aquarius/let the sunshine in...

What else? I really don't have anything else going on right now... what's there to say? Well, guess I'll get going then and let you go too - no need to sit here and read my nothingness. Hope y'all have a great day and I'll just try to post again later when I really have something to say... hahh!

White Rabbit

Well, these aren't the best pictures... but you can get the general idea of my progress. This is based on the Jefferson Airplane song - White Rabbit - go listen to it if you don't already know it, and you can check out the lyrics here...

OK, so the pictures show 3 phases as I've been working on this project - what do you think?

Now, the last picture - I've walked away from this painting for a bit - I don't want to ruin the picture! It's hard to walk away sometimes, you want to finish and work on it - but I'm not exactly sure what direction I want to go in...

My initial thought was that I would paint a black and white checkerboard around the entire frame of the painting - now, I'm not sure if I want to do that or not - I kind of like the white frame. Hmmm... I also still plan on emphasizing the words somehow that are in the picture, but I don't want them to stand out TOO much - hard balance. Let's see what else? Oh - I plan on painting a red Q and a heart in the upper right hand corner, similar to what you would see on a playing card.

well - let me know what you think - good or bad, i'll take it - just curious...

So really now...

I wonder if hubby will take me out to the Bistro for a snack tonight? That would really make my day. I could so totally go for the Shrimp and biscuits. YUM. I'll have to work on that request - we'll see.
How is your day going? Mine's pretty good for a humpday. The morning has actually kept me busy so it's just flown by. I like those kind of days. I'm hoping to go shopping at lunch today to buy me a new bra. As I'm getting dressed this morning, I was having major issues finding a decent bra. AUGH - I hate that. I need to get some new ones, I only have 1 nice one right now and the others... well, they could be tossed away easily. I just have a very hard time spending good money on a bra - but when I have those good ones - they are SO worth it. I'm just cheap. Plus I have the whole issue that I hardly have enough to even put in a bra - I could probably go without a bra for the most part and no one would even notice. seriously! But, that's why I love those padded bras - a girls gotta get some where she can ya' know? I'm rambling now, aren't i? damn. Hate when I do that... sorry.

OH! before I go - I almost forgot to tell you all - I RAN AGAIN! woohoo! My back isn't hurting at all from it. I'm so excited - I'm back into it now. I went on Monday evening - walked for 1/2 a mile, then ran for about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile and then walked/ran another mile (mostly walked). BUT the important thing is that I did it! So, I plan on going again tonight, a bit later then I did on Monday night, cuz good lord it was HOT out there. It was 92 degrees when I got back in from the run - this time, I'll wait til the sun starts to set. I'll go nice and easy like I did on Monday night and I hope that by next week I'm at least able to run the full mile and then I'll build from there.

OK, well y'all have a great day and I will check in with you later!

Free IQ Test

Take a Free IQ Test.

I don't know what it is, but I just LOVE taking IQ tests - that's pretty vain isn't it? I just want to see how smart I am. ROFL - that's a riot. I love the questions, I love to see if I can figure them out - but also, I love to learn - if I miss the questions, I want to see how I missed them and figure out the correct answer. I don't know - I'm odd that's all there is to it. :) Anyway, it's a quick easy test - check it out and let me know how you do! I mean, unless you beat my score of course, I don't wanna know about that! ;) just kidding... kinda... LOL!

I did it!!

Woo hoo! I am an official 5k runner now! I had a really great time...Here's my finish info - 719 out of 1233 that's not too shabby. Most importantly tho, I did hit my goal of running it in under 35 minutes. I took off at the start line with my sister-in-law (shelly) and my friend (the trickster), it wasn't long down the road there that they started pulling away from me, I yelled after them "see you at the finish line!" So, I set off at my own pace - trying to keep it slow and steady - that was difficult, I found myself running too fast - I had to keep slowing myself down or I wouldn't make it! Just after the 2nd mile there is a small hill and I had to slow down to walk the hill, but I ran again as soon as I was at the top of it. I was really struggling there for a bit - I had hurt my back pretty bad on Saturday (tried to move something heavy, lifting it wrong) - couldn't even walk on Saturday. I spent all of that day laying down with ice on my back, messed up from the pain pills. fun stuff. I tested it a bit on Sunday and did OK, and was determined to run on Monday - so I just did it. My back is aching quite a bit now, I'm going to try to get into the doc today. Anyway here's my running split times from my miles...
Mile 1: 10:56:71
Mile 2: 11:29:80
Mile 3.1: 12:14:05
Finish: 34:40:56

This was "my time" from actually crossing the start to crossing the finish line. My "official time" is from the shot of the gun, to crossing the finish line. So, a small difference, but not much. Anyway, a great experience and I can't wait to do the next one!

Well, it's just FuddyDuddy and myself for the next 3 weeks. When my family left here yesterday, they took my 2 brats darling angels with them and will keep them until my in-laws come back down here the weekend of the 13th! WOW - whatever will we do? OK folks, gotta run - but I'll chat with you more later! Have a great one!

Monday, May 19, 2008

Well now...

Next Monday at this time, I will be finishing up my first ever 5k! Woohoo! ;) I'm getting more and more excited for it every day! I'll be #2655 - watch for me and cheer for me! haha. Yep - the excitement is growing. I've also made a little side wager with the Trickster, winner buys dinner and/or drinks on the following Wed. night. I think I might even have a chance against her (probably not, but it helps me). We'll see. So weekend recap:

Friday night: Alex had a buddy spend the night and the kids played Wii all night long. I went to bed early cuz I had an early morning.

Saturday: I got up bright and early to do a practice run on the 5k course with my running group. I did the entire course running and finished in 35:24 - I'm so close! Then lil girl had a softball game, so we went to that. They lost - :( We had a lil seeeeemons bday party at the Jumpzone that afternoon, the kids had so much fun there. What a cool place to have a bday party! After that we went to hang out at the Seeeeemons house for some cooking and drinking - YUM! It was a great night to hang out, but I was exhausted so we didn't stay late. Back home and straight to bed.

Sunday: I attacked our bedroom to clean - what a freakin mess that was. ALL DAY LONG. But, I finished it - you can actually walk into our walk-in closet now - go figure! It looks very nice now, amazing what a lil work can do. Hubby put together 2 bookcases that I bought for our room, and that helps SO much. We had books all over the place and no where to put them - this is great. The kids did some of their work and then spent the entire day playing with our new next door neighbors - they had a blast.

So, all in all, it turned out to be a productive and good weekend. OK - I must run now, I'll chat with you later!

Another milestone....!!!

OK, last night I ran around the neighborhood by myself. I couldn't find someone to run with me, so I didn't back out of it - I just did it. Now, usually, when I run by myself, I don't do as well - I tend to quit earlier, or stop running and start walking, etc...I just wuss out easier - I have no resolve on my own! Anyway, last night I took off and just kept going, it felt good and right, and easy. I had my iPod going with some great music, it was slightly cool and then it started raining about halfway through my run - that felt great! i loved it. I had no clue what distance I was going, I was just trying to hit about 35 minutes or so and call it good. When I got home, I actually felt like I could keep going - of course, I didn't - but now I wish that I had. After i got some water and cooled down, I drove my car around where I had just run to see about what distance I had done - 2.9 miles! Wow, that really was very good for me - I'm just so proud of myself. Makes me wanna go out and do it again tonight!

Lil girl is sposed to have a softball game tonight, but I think they'll probably call it due to the rain - not sure. I kinda hope so. Some people from work are getting together for a little happy hour tonight too - I woulnd't mind going to that, I just don't know what's going on tonight. [shrugging my shoulders] who knows? All that I do know, is that tomorrow is Friday - I'm really looking forward to the weekend already! ok, gonna run - chat later.

Free your mind...

I ran around at lunch and got some more running supplies... I bought myself 2 pairs of running shorts and 2 pairs of running socks. I'm just getting psyched about it, I know - I know, that's all I'm talking about lately... well, it's a new exciting thing for me - so deal with it! ;) I plan on going running tonight - hopefully 3 miles, we'll see what's happening. I'm trying to talk FuddyDuddy into going with me and the kids, he can even ride his bike with the kids. We'll see. I just want to get out and run, and it's so much easier if I have someone with me.

OK, a funny story about lil girl. For Mother's day, she gave me a card that had a little packet of "coupons" in it - you know for things like clean the living room, wash the dishes, give kisses - etc... She was all excited about it, it was very cute. All day on Sunday, she kept saying - "are you going to use your coupons yet?" So, I finally cashed in the "give kisses" one and she promptly hugged me up and covered my face in kisses, it was pretty damn sweet. When she was done, I asked if I could have the coupon back to use again, and she loved that idea and gave the coupon back. I told her that I had a great idea, and that I was going to use that same coupon the next time she was mad at me, and she wouldn't have a choice, she would have to give me kisses. She just made a funny face and giggled. Well, last night - she's stomping through the living room in that little girl attitude that she does... I asked her what was wrong - she wheeled around and said she was mad at me 'cuz I told her to clean her room and she didn't want to. She was in one of those fine, pissy moods that only 7 year old girls can pull off so well (BIG ATTITUDE). I smiled and quickly grabbed my kisses coupon and held it out to her. Her face was priceless - she's trying to maintain her mad face, but there's this little smile tugging at her face and she's trying not to laugh. She hides her face while she's pretending to still be mad now, and she quickly comes over and takes the coupon, still kind of hiding and gives me a little peck. I say "no, you have to give me KISSES, it says kisses, not kiss!" she's laughing now and covers me in kisses and hugs. I ask "can I have the coupon back again?" and she hands it right back over! I love it. She's pretty damn cute, I may keep her. ;) Hope you're having a great humpday - I'll talk to you later!

I'm not the one who's so far away...

when I feel the snakebite enter my veins, never did i want to be here again - and I don't remember why I came....

Well, lil girl has another softball game tonight so we'll be out at the ballpark. It sposed to be nice at least, so that should be a good night. Only 7 days of school left - the kids are pretty excited, go figure! They'll be in daycare for the summer, but I'm also trying to work out a week or two to send them to Ohio and visit with all of the grandparents - we'll see. It's just funny, the older they get - the less I want them to do that, cuz I want them here. They're at that fun age now, where we can actually do things with them! But, I know they have fun up there and it's good for them to do that, plus it's good for the grandparents to get to spend time with them as well. Well, guess we'll figure it out. Maybe if I just send one of them up at a time it'll be easier on me. Isn't this weird - before I was always trying to get rid of them!!??! LOL. I sure could use some couple time with FuddyDuddy too... oh well... we'll work it out.

Ok y'all - i'm gonna run now and try to get this report done so that I can relax a little bit. Hope you are having a great morning!

Oh yeah - I ran 3.1 miles last night too, sprinting the last .2 miles! FELT GREAT! This time was even easier. This is getting better and better each week.

Saturday, May 10, 2008

seriously, you just can't stop me now...

I'm really into this running thing! It's getting easier and easier, and I'm looking forward to it now too. I went with one of my new running buddies on Thursday night and ran 2 miles, then we met again on Friday night and ran 3 miles. It's good stuff. I have to get used to the humidity and allergy part of it tho - man that was killing me last night. I ended up walking at least half of the last mile. I still finished the 3 miles in 36:49 so we were doing it at a fairly quick pace. That's awesome! I just feel so much better when I run. I'll take today and Sunday off cuz the group will be meeting on Monday night to run 3. 1 miles again, so I don't want to be tired and achey for that. I'll do a nice long walk on Sunday maybe, that'll work.

So anyway, what are you folks up to today? I've got some cleaning to do, just a few odds and ends around the house and then nothing, nothing at all planned. ok, i'm gonna run and get some more coffee! talk to y'all later. buh-bye now.

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

I'm so close!

WOOHOO! Last night I ran 3.1 miles in 35:21!!! Isn't that exciting? It totally is. I'm only 21 seconds off of my goal now. That's less then 7 seconds a mile, surely I can do that. Don't you think? sure. Anyway, I'm just so excited about it - every time it really does get easier. I just think that, come race day, it's going to be even easier! I mean, really - just the excitement of it all - it should just fly by. ;) So, I'm thinking I might need a new running outfit for race day - I mean, I should have one - it's my first 5k - I should look like a pro, shouldn't i? of course. FuddyDuddy- that might make a great mothers day gift for me. ;) helping you out. (shorts, and shirt - don't forget new socks too!) THEN, after the race and IF I've completed both of my goals (to run the whole race, and to finish under 35:00) then - I want to get a new tattoo to "memorialize" this event. What do you think? Any ideas? I just want something small and inconspicuous. I already have 2 tats and would even consider just adding something onto one of my current ones, but it'll have to be something good. Help me out here - seriously. Here's some brief ideas I have right now... a pair of small wings somewhere, a little runner girl figure, a cotton ball (since it's the cotton row run), a 3.1 and the date, that's where I run out... lemme know what you come up with.

Running

Well, I met 2 of the other runners from my group and we ran again last night - I didn't do as good last night as I did on Monday. Not sure. I ran for 23 minutes, and then started walking/running 'cuz I was feeling really nauseous. I don't know what that was about. So we did about a total of 3 miles, maybe slightly longer - missed the 1.5 turn-around point - so really not sure how much we did. But at least 3 miles. Anyway, I feel better that I have run - and that's what matters. I'm going to try and run again on Saturday morning - we'll see.

Also found out last night that my in-laws are coming into town this weekend to see the new baby. They'll be in sometime on Friday. That'll be fun, we'll cook out at our house on Friday night - gotta think of something yummy to make. Hmmmm.... We'll have a fun weekend.

Lil girl has a softball game on Saturday morning too. We'll have to get to that. I guess that's all that I have right now. I'm gonna head out - talk to you later.

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Another milestone!!

Last night I ran 3 miles! Woohoo! I ran the entire 3 miles, I'm just so excited! That's my furthest distance to date and I did it in a whopping 35:50 time! That's just quite the feat for me. There were a few time when I was nearing 2.5 miles that I thought about stopping to walk, but I kept going. I'm so glad that I did. I am going to be able to RUN the entire 5k now, I know that I can do it - that is just the most exciting thing to me. Aren't you excited for me??? Thank you, thank you! I'm going to try and get together with some of the people on Wednesday night to go run again, I've got to keep it going after all - we're only 26 days and 22 hours away from the race! ;) ok, gonna run now - I'll chat you up later! Love ya! mean it!

Baby I'm a star!

I'm totally rocking out to some Prince right now - have the headphones on and loving it! Volume up and I can't hear a damn thing of all the commotion going on in the cubes around me! woohoo! That always helps. Have I mentioned how I hate these new cubes we are in? hmmm... In any case - how is your day going? Purdy damn good here. It's Humpday after all - that makes everything better. Happy Humpday to you and I hope you celebrate it wisely.

Now playing: Endless Sacrifice, Dream Theater

So, lets see... I tried to run a mile last night, but didn't do it - I ran/walked/ran a mile. I guess better than nothing, right? right. I also went to curves yesterday at lunch and brought my stuff to go again today - although I have absolutely no urge at all to do it. I need a kick in the rear on some of this stuff.... I'm feeling a little frustrated. I mean, here I am running 3-4 times a week, working out at curves 3-4 times a week - I'm watching what I eat and I haven't lost a pound! Not one. What the hell is going on? For about 2-3 weeks now, I'm staying at the same weight. I'm not sure if I'm losing inches or anything, but I don't really feel that I am losing at all. In fact, I think my thighs are getting bigger. Now, I'm also noticing that they feel "tighter" as well - not as flabby... so I know I'm building some muscle up - which i so desperately need. sigh - I don't know, it's just a bit frustrating.

Now playing: Fat Bottomed Girls, Queen. (how appropriate...)

Ok folks, I'm gonna go get this report done and then run around the building to see who I could pester for a bit. ;) have a good one!
