Woo
hoo! I am an official 5k runner now! I had a really great time...Here's my finish info - 719 out of 1233 that's not too shabby. Most importantly tho, I did hit my goal of running it in under 35 minutes. I took off at the start line with my sister-in-law (
shelly) and my friend (the trickster), it wasn't long down the road there that they started pulling away from me, I yelled after them "see you at the finish line!" So, I set off at my own pace - trying to keep it slow and steady - that was difficult, I found myself running too fast - I had to keep slowing myself down or I wouldn't make it! Just after the 2
nd mile there is a small hill and I had to slow down to walk the hill, but I ran again as soon as I was at the top of it. I was really struggling there for a bit - I had hurt my back pretty bad on Saturday (tried to move something heavy, lifting it wrong) - couldn't even walk on Saturday. I spent all of that day laying down with ice on my back, messed up from the pain pills. fun stuff. I tested it a bit on Sunday and did OK, and was determined to run on Monday - so I just did it. My back is aching quite a bit now, I'm going to try to get into the doc today. Anyway here's my running split times from my miles...
Mile 1: 10:56:71
Mile 2: 11:29:80
Mile 3.1: 12:14:05
Finish: 34:40:56
This was "my time" from actually crossing the start to crossing the finish line. My "official time" is from the shot of the gun, to crossing the finish line. So, a small difference, but not much. Anyway, a great experience and I can't wait to do the next one!
Well, it's just
FuddyDuddy and myself for the next 3 weeks. When my family left here yesterday, they took my 2
brats darling angels with them and will keep them until my in-laws come back down here the weekend of the 13
th! WOW - whatever will we do? OK folks, gotta run - but I'll chat with you more later! Have a great one!
