Woohoo! I'm excited! I just finished my first workout at Curves. What a great concept this is! I really, really love it. So, for those of you not in the know, there are stations setup in one big circle when you go in there. You start at one station and work your way around the circle 2.5 times. There's music pumping and a voice overhead that tells you "please move to the next station now" every 30 seconds. The machines are all resistance machines, and yes - you can feel it working, the stations in between the machines are just mats to keep your heart rate up and moving - you can jog in place, do jumping jacks - whatever your little heart desires. Then the voice tells you to change, you jump to the next station - vois la! It's a complete workout, there are short breaks every 8 minutes or so to test your heart rate and ensure that it's up enough, or not up too much. You never have to wait on someone to get off of a machine so that you can use it, you just move along the circle, and all of the other women are moving along the circle at the same time in the same direction - you can't beat it. It takes just about 30 minutes to do the entire set, so it's perfect for a lunch time workout too. I feel PUMPED! I'm thinking that between this and doing my running workouts, I've got to start losing some weight eventually - don't you think??? lol! Well we'll see...
