Work this out.

So, I went to the gym at lunch to start my 5K training - I'm so PUMPED! I was going to start off easy today and just go 1 mile and see how far of that I can actually run, then just walk the rest. As I walk into the gym and flash my card - she tells me that I need to renew my contract before I go work out - no problem. The manager comes down and talks to me telling me that my contract has been void since August due to my the cancellation of my credit card and that I need to renew and give them new payment info. Well - I don't have my wallet on me - since I was planning to work out and all, so I tell her I'll have to come back and do that. Then I ask why this hasn't come up before, because I've been in there since August. She says - no you haven't. I'm just laughing now - Ummm - YES, I have. I think I would know that. Well, we don't show that you have been. Well, granted - it hasn't been much - but yes, I have been. I pick up my bag and start walking to the locker room and she stops me - oh, you can't work out today. Well, I just wanted to do the treadmill - I can come back on my way home from work to renew the contract and all that. Oh no, we cannot allow you to work out without this renewal. Not at all? NO, not at all. So now I'm bummed and pissed off - I mean really. I've been a member there for over 3 years, they couldn't let me do ONE workout? Geesh.

So - here's where I'm at now... Do I renew my contract with them at all?
  • We're coming up on summer and I NEVER go during the summer, it's just as easy to go do something outside then.
  • I might make FuddyDuddy go buy me a cheap treadmill for our garage - nothing fancy, just the basics so that when I want to go walk - I can go walk.
  • Do I look for another gym that's closer to home and maybe we get a family membership?

This is what's going on with me - what do you think? Opinions?

Find a place closer to home that way you can't use the "distance" excuse to get out of working out. Screw them, but negotiate the monthly rate with the new place stating you're a member elsewhere and what you pay.

oh can you do that? negotiate it out? I'm totally gonna look into that...

I've definitely decided to not rejoin there, I am going to look closer to home - maybe something the whole family can join.

we'll see...
