So we went out boating Saturday - all day. It was a great time - lots of sun, food, beer and friends - the perfect recipe. Then throw in a bit of a wakeboard crash and you end up with a FuddyDuddy concussion. NICE. Yep - hubby wiped out on the wakeboard, hitting head first on the water and ended up in the hospital that night with a concussion. Scared the crap outta me. He was so loopey - so out of it. It turns out that it was just a mild concussion - but I wanted to be sure and get it all checked out, they ran a CAT scan and everything came back normal. Well, as normal as it was before. ;)
We had 3 boats out there and I guess it wasn't until everyone else untied and we were following them back in that I realized something was seriously wrong with him. At first I thought that he was just messing with me - asking me the SAME questions over and over and over again. Not remembering the whole day. Not even remembering being on the wakeboard. Then I realized - OH SHIT - he's not right. He had no clue what month it was, or where we were. Our friends helped us get the boat outta the water and onto the trailer - I'm so glad they were there to help - I would have lost it otherwise! I drove the truck and trailer home, unhooked it all -unloaded the boat, got the neighbors to watch the kids and took hubby to the hospital. Where we waited, and waited and waited...well you get the picture...
So it was 2am before we got back home, got the kids and settled in. I didn't sleep all night - kept waking up to check on him and make sure that he was still breathing! Just the mom in me... and I guess the wife too. He's still feeling a bit achey and has a headache - but he is MUCH better. He remembers most of it now, still not the wakeboard part - none of that. But most everything else. I've had to fill him in on a couple of holes - but I think he's ok now. That's just weird shit. WEIRD shit.
He will be wearing a helmet on the water from now on...
