What I've been reading...

So, almost done reading - this book - It has a very different view of ADD and AD/HD. Really stating that this is NOT a disease but merely a disorder. That makes alot of sense to me, more sense, anyway. It has a lot of useful advice in it as well in terms of behaviour modification for Alex (and Lauren too). Basically it focuses much more on positive reinforcement rather then punishment. Which, in our case, I think will work much better. I mean, it gets to the point that there isn't ANYTHING to punish him with sometimes...He'll be bargaining with us - "well, how many spankings will I get if I do this..." and then he considers whether it's worth that many spankings or not. If it weren't so damn sad it would be freaking hilarious! It's a lot of common sense stuff - but stuff that I don't do now, for one reason or another. You know, I use the excuse a lot that I'm busy - I work full time, and so does my husband... by the time I leave work, go get the brats, I mean darlings, get home, try to cook dinner, eat, clean a little - then it's time for them to get ready for bed and get to bed. We have such little time with the kids during the week. We're running around the house like crazy every morning trying to get up and out on time. It's insane! I really need to take more time with them. They need it and so do I. Who knows... I'm just rambling here, I know... just putting it out there. So anyway, that's where we are at right now. I'm sure a lot of you other working parents can sympathize as well. Oh well... that's all for now! Got to run.
