And now the saga of the desk...

Otherwise entitled: "WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD BUY A DESK THAT DOESN'T EVEN FIT IN THEIR HOUSE?????"

So...Saturday started off as a normal day, got to sleep in a little bit, woke up had some coffee...mmmm, not bad. Then Hubby and I started talking about how we really need new bedroom furniture and maybe we should go look for it that morning. So we take off hit a place or two, but didn't really see anything that we were crazy about. So we head back home. I'm getting ready to leave to go get my hair done (color with highlights - looks very nice, by the way) and he says... "Well, I've really been wanting a flat panel monitor - So I'm going to go buy one today." Well, alright no big deal, that would be nice to have - oh and while you are out maybe you can look for a small computer desk, cuz this cart that we have SUCKS! So we take measurements of the corner that the desk sits in and I head off to get my hair done.

Well, I get a call not too much later from Hubby - "I just bought a $350.00 desk" -huh? He says, "but it's really nice and it was marked down from $1200.00 - it'll be nice." Well - we did need a desk, I wasn't expecting to pay that much for a desk - but we really did need it. So - no big deal...until I saw it. We run up to the store to take a look at it (He's already paid for it, but needs a friends help to get it home) - we walk in, and he's walking towards this REALLY huge, REALLY ugly desk...no, that can't be it. YES! So - now besides the fact that I think it's ugly, really ugly (I have to let that part go.) IT'S HUGE. I ask him - is this going to fit in that corner? "Well no, it's too big - it'll hang over the doorway - but only by like 7" or so..." - huh? You KNEW the measurements of the corner, and yet - still bought a desk that doesn't fit.

Interesting.

Hmmm....so he wasn't talking to me, cuz he was mad that I was being so negative - and I was mad that he bought a desk that didn't fit - so we just didn't talk to each other too much the rest of Saturday. He got a friend to help him bring it home and put it in the garage. Then we started cleaning out the room to put it in.

So, now we have this ridiculously large desk in our dining room that is an office, not a dining room. But he's happy - he loves, loves, loves this new desk. Yes - it does hang out over the doorway, yes - it's still ugly. What can I do? He's a good husband and father - if this desk makes him happier, well then it's his. I'll live with it but, it's still ugly...

I love you honey, it's not you - really. ;) OK - I have closure now, I'll stop bitching about the desk.
