What's the best kind of wood to burn at a campfire?
She's full of questions...got to say that! Anyway, another fine question...There are many selections and many different kinds of fires. Fireplace fires, campfires, cooking fires...do you want a big huge campfire, or a nice small, hot campfire....? See, it's more than just a simple answer...But first...most importanty...the wood must be seasoned to be good for burning. Here's a chart that breaks down many different woods for your ease...In my humble opinion though, I prefer a nice oak - it's hard and will burn a very long time. So you can sit late into the night, drinking your beer, and watching wood burn. Very exciting. If you're going to cook on it, not much can beat Hickory, the smell - mmmmmmmmm, yum! Anyway, hope this helps! Enjoy your next fire! Don't forget, do not light your cigarettes from the ashes, very dangerous act there - very!
