2nd Grade

Well, I now have a 2nd grader at home! I can't believe it! Alex is 7 already - how time flies! WOW. Anyway, yesterday was his last day of school. He ended up with all A's! I know, some of you are saying - well - sure, it's only 1st grade, he better have all A's. But that is not always the case - it's not like his whole class finished that well. So - I am extremely proud of him! As a special reward for him doing so well - we stopped off and bought him an aquarium and a couple of little fish. We got 6 neon tetra's, 1 male guppy, 2 female guppies, an algae eater and a shrimp. The shrimp got in the bag by accident, so that one will be Lauren's. She has named it Rex. Nice, huh? Oh well. Anyway...so we get up this morning and one of the little tetra's is dead already...

Me: Well, Alex - we lost one of your tetra's already honey.
Alex: How did we lose him - didn't we put them all in the tank?
Me: Yes, but one of them died overnight.
Alex: Where is he?
Me: He is in the plant, mommy will have to pull him out of the tank this morning.

So, a few minutes go by, we are all getting dressed, and I walk by his room to see him sitting on the edge of the bed, near tears.

Me: What's wrong honey?
ALex: I know why the fish died...you told me not to put my finger in the water and while you weren't looking last night, I did...
Me: *hug* Oh honey - that didn't kill the fish! You should never put your finger in the water - but still that wouldn't kill the fish!
Alex: Are you sure that I didn't kill the fish - I went and looked at him and his face is all white.

Anyway - how pitiful is that? I went on to do my best by explaining that the fish was probably either already sick or just didn't like the new water...I think he was OK with it all by the end! I think...of course I still had to pull that fish out of the water...ick.

Oh well! Got to run! Have a great day everyone!
