The Tsunami in southeast Asia, and all of the deaths as a result of it, has really gotten to me this week. I am so engrossed in this and what is happening to all of these people. It's heart-wrenching really! All of these people, just going about their daily lives and swept away in a moment. I just am...overwhelmed with emotions about this event. You know, this really puts so many things in perspective for me - once again showing that it could be worse. There I was bitching and complaining that I was "stuck" at the airport for a few days and BOOM that hits. It makes me feel terrible, I am so glad for what I have and I should appreciate it more. So I was out there today reading more about it, and wondering what I could do to help. I figured probably some of you are the same way...so here are some organizations that you can contact to see how you can help too.
— American Red Cross International Response Fund: 800-HELP NOW
— Direct Relief International: 805-964-4767
— Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres: 888-392-0392
— International Medical Corps: 800-481-4462
— Mercy Corps: 800-852-2100
— Operation USA: 800-678-7255
There are many other organizations trying to help, and I'm sure they will accept any kind of help. Here is a link to the Today Show - they have put together a large list of organizations to help with the disaster relief.
